Skylighter Fireworks was proud to return to Sea World Thunder Lake for the annual After Dark spectacle that is ‘Carnivale’. A sea of colour and sound comes alive at Sea World Carnivale. This iconic Aqua Light Show returned bigger and bolder than ever!
#TeamSkylighter worked with the Carnivale Creative team to develop a 12-minute spectacle for park enthusiasts.
The brief was to blend the display seamlessly into the creative narrative, both on the Thunder Lake stage with 50+ performers, and the Aqua Light Show, presented by our friends at Oracle-Liquid, which featured dynamic lighting, lasers, and aquatic jets reaching over 40 metres!
The challenge posed to Skylighter Fireworks by Village Roadshow Theme Parks, was to ensure that the display could fire in the worse case conditions of wind, rain, and weather, and not impact park activations, including the newly completed, Atlantis Precinct, and animal zones, as well as a day trade.
Designer, Harrison Smith of Skylighter Fireworks, stated, “The real challenge and creative interest for me was designing a show that could be replicated with ease, night after night, for both our teams onsite, but also from a preparation point of view. Utilising our exclusive range of close proximity single shots and multishot products, allowed me to hit the beats of both the track, and the live musicians onstage.”
22 Shows in 2 months!
The challenge for Project Manager, Nick Kozij, and Production Manager, Dale Norris, was to effectively deploy the show 22 times across January and February.
“To reduce the impact on the day trade at Sea World, we completed 90% of the preparation in the warehouse before transporting to the site, loading onto the Skylighter Workboats, and deploying, plugging, and testing the 15 positions on the island” notes Dale. “We worked with the Thunder Lake Show and Showtime Entertainment Group to complete the rest of the build around the day trade events, including 4 flame towers, 6 custom built flame structures (including flame bars through bespoke modified galaxis flame), and 6 close proximity positions!” said Kozij.
The display was controlled through a redundant Fire One Ultra Fire script with 2x XL2s, 2x XL4s, and a galaxies controller all being fed SMPTE Timecode to ensure the elements were in sync with the additional components of the show.
